Pan-Asian fried chicken that speaks for itself

Why did the chicken cross the road?

Not to get some publicity, that’s for sure. Peck & Yard don’t even have a website which might explain why Manchester’s first Pan-Asian fried chicken shack doesn’t have folks queueing out the door from its Chorlton home all the way down the M56 to Chester, or at least to Chester Road.

Despite their low-key presence, Peck & Yard have picked up some plaudits, winning Best Restaurant Takeaway in the British Restaurant Awards, earning some rave reviews from Gordo and, of course, attracting plenty of loyal customers.

One can only assume the team at Peck & Yard are too busy perfecting the art of fried chicken and knocking up batches of their addictive homemade sauces. Fair play to them, because they’ve nailed it. They don’t need to shout about their chicken, carefully marinated in fragrant East Asian flavours, twice-fried and coated in panko for a crispy crunch, because the taste speaks for itself.

If you consider yourself a fried chicken fiend, you can’t let Peck & Yard’s unassuming attitude to self-promotion get between you and a mouthful of what we consider to be the finest fried chicken you’ll find in the North West.

Wing it to Chorlton for poultry perfection, eat-in or at a table in the sun, all washed down with an ice-cold beer. Takeaway and delivery also available. Or, head to their new yard in Ancoats with an emphasis on the finest, freshest and fastest fried chicken to take away. Cluck and collect or arrange for Deliveroo or UberEats to do it for you.

It’s not just the fried chicken that makes Peck & Yard stand out. As well as thighs, breasts, wings and drumettes there are some very enticing specials available too. Crisp fried chicken in a steamed bao bun? Yes please. A pow-pow stack (a veritable tower of a burger loaded with fried thigh and breast, hot sauce and kimslaw) is well worth getting messy for. Or how about the feast? Fried chicken every which way and lots of it, teamed with a selection of the aforementioned sauces. Cheesy, sticky, spicy, fiery – unlike the Seven Dwarves, there are eleven of these beauties to choose from.

If fried chicken isn’t your thing, Peck & Yard also do delicious grilled chicken and tempting vegetarian dishes with aubergine, cauliflower or halloumi.

Fill up on Peck & Yard’s cluckin’ good food now because once they get a website up and running, their secret will be out and the world and his wife will be thronging for Pan-Asian fried chicken. Be first.
