Latest restaurant to open on Regent Street St James’s in June

Manchester-based restaurant group San Carlo has spread its love of fine Italian foods across the world with restaurants across England and also in Qatar, Bangkok and Bahrain.

San Carlo is one of the UK’s most successful restaurant brands but it is fiercely independent – always putting the quality of the ingredients first. Based in Manchester, San Carlo has six restaurants in the area although its latest eponymous opening is in a flagship development on Regent Street St James’s in London.

This prestigious location is matched by the calibre of the chef – Alberico Penati – who will head up the new San Carlo restaurant.

Alberico Penati is one of the most respected Italian chefs whose illustrious career has taken him to Ristorante Carpaccio – the first Italian restaurant in France to win a Michelin star, Harry’s Bar at Annabel’s and Alberico at Aspinalls.

Penati’s menus will include a mix of seasonal choices served alongside classic dishes – each one using some of the very best Italian produce – be it veal from Tuscany, beef from Piemonte or Sicilian tomatoes.

San Carlo Regent Street St James’s will launch with a new spring/summer menu made up of mouth-watering creations such as monkfish stewed with shallots and broad beans, beef tagliata with rosemary and sautéed lettuce and tagliolini with crab and artichokes.

As you’d expect from the opening of a new San Carlo restaurant, the interior is the last word in Italian elegance.

Specially-commissioned artisans and master craftsmen have created a beautiful marble floor, intricate brass rosettes, steamed and lacquered beech wood, cut Arabescato marble and bespoke furniture from Italy.

Regent Street St James’s has seen a £500 million investment from The Crown Estate and Asset Manager, Sarah Parish explained: ‘We are delighted to be welcoming our second restaurant from the San Carlo family to St James’s, and it is particularly special for this to be the first venture using the San Carlo name. Under the leadership of renowned Head Chef, Alberico Penati, San Carlo will bring distinctive style and cuisine to St James’s, and enhance the breadth of dining experiences on offer across the district.’
