SPOILER alert – it gave us great pleasure to include Lily’s in our hot-off-the-press Confidentials’ Top 100 Restaurants in the North West countdown, so imagine how pleased we were for the Ashton-based diner-style Indian restaurant when they picked up Manchester Food & Drink Festival’sVegetarian Offering of the Year Award.

Reintroduced last year, and sponsored by meat alternative big-hitters Quorn, the veggie category award is a nod to the ever-increasing popularity in eating out meat and dairy free. Part of the 21st festival, the winners of the MFDF 2018 gongs were announced in a glittering gala ceremony at Gorton Monastery earlier this month and vegetarian Indian cuisine experts Lily’s came out top of a very strong pile.

Lily’s was up against a line-up including Amma’s Canteen in Chorlton, Bundobust on this side of the Pennines, Stockport’s Chaat Cart, Elnecot in Ancoats and the First Street branch of Indian Tiffin Room.

Despite its location on the edge of foodie central, Lily’s has made a name for itself with exciting, authentic and affordable eats from the Indian Subcontinent, even making its way into the Good Food Guide. Best invest in a tram ticket and hotfoot it over…
