MANCHESTER Food and Drink Festival (MFDF) has that announced this year's event will take place over eleven days from 18-29 September 2014.

"We also know that one in four people attending the Festival are a visitor to the city."

The festival, back for its seventeenth annual event, will again see the Festival Hub set up camp in Albert Square which saw nearly 100,000 visitors in 2013.

MFDF welcomes a new sponsor this year, with Thwaites Brewery agreeing a three year partnership with the festival until 2016 and hosting the Thwaites Festival of Beer at the hub for four days from Thursday 18- Sunday 21 September.

There’ll also be street food events, wine tastings, live demonstrations, bands and DJs on stage, an independent producer’s market, a pop-up pub, cocktail events and the culmination of the festival with the annual MFDF Gala Dinner and Awards, dishing out awards including: Restaurant of the Year, Bar of the Year, Chef of the Year and Newcomer of the Year (see last year’s winners here). You can nominate yourself for an award here. You braggart.

Festival Director Phil Jones comments:

“It is fantastic to see the Festival still achieving ground breaking success. It engages with more Mancunian businesses than any event in the city.

"We continue to support the day and night-time economies of Greater Manchester. Over the many years of our MFDF awards we’ve told the country about more than 500 nominees, all of whom we’d say are world class. Businesses who partner the festival and are nominated in our awards invariably report a business boost post-event.

"The Festival caters for so many Mancunians who enjoy their food and drink. We also know that one in four people attending the Festival are a visitor to the city."
