Lowry head chef Andrew Green has given the ultimate Sunday comfort food a festival upgrade

They’ve become something of a social media sensation of late but, according to The Lowry’s head chef Andrew Green, he’s been whipping up the humble Yorkshire pudding wrap at home for yonks.

Now, to celebrate their newfound moment in the spotlight, Green will be bringing his speciality Yorkshire pudding wraps to The River Restaurant & Bar every Sunday, using beef sirloin from Chorlton butcher, WH Frost, with fried onions, horseradish cream, rocket, beef Jus and, of course, a Yorkshire Pudding wrap, for £9.95.

And with Christmas approaching, Green has decided to give his favourite Sunday comfort food a festive upgrade, with the restaurant offering a special Christmas turkey wrap throughout December.

Andrew Green: he loves 'em he does

The Catey-shortlisted chef said: “It was strange seeing the Yorkshire Pudding phenomenon blow up online, because I have been making them for a good few years now.

“It is no wonder the Yorkshire pudding wrap is such a sensation - it basically consists of a large flattened Yorkshire pudding, wrapped around carved meat plus all your roast dinner favourites and then smothered in thick gravy. It is the ultimate comfort food.

“We are so sure of the tastiness of our wraps that we challenge people to find a more delicious one anywhere else in the country. Come along and try it for yourself.”

Popular puds aside, The Lowry has another reason to celebrate this winter, with October seeing the five-star hotel’s best month’s trading since opening in 2001.

General Manager Adrian Ellis believes the record figures are a sign that Manchester’s economy, and its hotel and leisure sector, is bouncing back strongly after May’s tragic terror attack.

“Hotels are a barometer for the wider economy and we interpret this record level of income for one month at The Lowry Hotel as demonstrating the city’s resilience… The fact we are trading more strongly than ever is not just good news for the Lowry Hotel - it is good news for the city.”
