A rose filled with gin – that's the kind of bouquet we like

LOOKING for a non-cheesy Valentine's night out where you don't have to worry about filling awkward silences or spilling food on your top? Head to The Pen and Pencil where they're doing a laidback Valentine's celebration with live jazz music and some very photogenic rose cup cocktails.

The soundtrack will come from soul singer Yemi Bolatiwa who'll be performing two blistering sets on the night.

And the drinks specials will be from Sipsmith, including an eye-catching Belle of the Ball cocktail, served in a rose glass (£9). Featuring Sipsmith London Dry Gin, violet liquor, rose bitters, hibiscus gomme, lemon, and egg white, it's a delicate, elegant drink you'll want to savour.

There's also G&Ts for £3 (Sipsmith Gin and Fevertree Tonic). And as a souvenir of the evening, you can get your photo snapped with a loved one and printed onto your very own bottle of Vedett beer. (Just don't accidentally throw it out with the recycling once you get it home.)

It'll be popular so you're advised to book in advance. Email on info@thepenandpencilnq.co.uk or call 0161 660 3303. www.thepenandpencilnq.co.uk
