New Masonic Centre unveiled after 300-year anniversary celebrations and a stunning two-year refurb

After a recent multi million-pound refurbishment by Vision Developments, Manchester Hall is now a premium dining and events destination: home to fine restaurants like Masons (soon to be joined by others) as well as business meetings, conferences and spectacular weddings.

But since 1929, it’s also been home to the Freemasons, who have retained their dedicated accommodation on the third floor and held a special ceremony earlier this week.

As well as ‘reopening’ the Manchester Masonic Centre - which has been beautifully renovated along with the rest of the Grade II listed building - the occasion marked the passing of the Freemasons’ 300thanniversary last October: reflecting on how the organisation has adapted and taken on a much more contemporary direction.

The grand evening included a drinks reception, tour of the centre, speeches from key personnel and the unveiling of the new Masonic plaque to commemorate the opening. A memorial dedicated to Freemasons who lost their lives in WWII has also been re-homed within the centre, moved from its original spot on the ground floor.

Guests in attendance included Provincial Grand Master for East Lancashire Sir David Trippier, accompanied by his wife Lady Ruth, and Most Worshipful Brother Peter Geoffrey Lowndes; the Pro Grand Master who carried out the opening.

Those involved in the redevelopment said: “We are really proud of the stunning work of the new Manchester Masonic Centre; the space will be a hub for members to socialise and for new members joining Freemasonry to benefit from their new surroundings".

Sir Trippier went on to describe how Freemasons enjoy a sense of trust and kinship, being in a group of like-minded individuals that transcends social status or wealth. For information on the Manchester Masons, visit their website

Whether Freemason or not, the good news is that now everyone can experience Manchester Hall; whether hosting or attending an event, or dining at Masons Restaurant and enjoying fine British cooking with a global flavour.
