Everything you need for a vegan lifestyle whether you’re a card-carrying plant-based pioneer or just curious

The Manchester Vegan Market is back this Saturday 29th August at Bowlers Exhibition Centre. The event’s organisers want to emphasise that everyone is welcome to the event. So whether you’re curious about a vegan lifestyle, cutting down on your meat and dairy intake or an established card carrying vegan already, there will be something for you. Expect a huge spectrum of global vegan food, the latest vegan fashions, beauty products and gifts. Dare we say, it’s perfect for a bit of early, ethical X**s shopping.

Veganism is tightly connected with activism, fighting for a better planet for everyone

The meat-less market takes place from 10.30am to 4.30pm with over 80 vegan stalls. There will be freshly cooked food from the likes of VDogs (vegan hot dogs), Greek Vegan Deli, Home Kitchen, There’s No Catch (tofish and chips) and Those Vegan Pizza Guys. Other stalls include Cruelty Free Candy, Hoooly Dough, Mariners Fudge, The Hemp Pantry, The May Bakery and Todo Utz. For those struggling to find an alternative for their chessboard addiction, Tyne Chease will be on hand to show you how far vegan cheese has come. They will be offering their range of artisan organic cultured vegan cheeses to try and buy. The Adopted Vegan, a plant-based patisserie, will have vegan chocolates, macaroons and pastries on offer.

But it’s not just about food, it’s a lifestyle, right? So find crystals and ‘healing jewellery’ from The Crystal Expert, cruelty-free scents from Eden Perfumes (with Viva La Vegan), mascara that hasn’t been tried out on a rabbit first from LYF Cosmetics, and tallow-free waxiness from Newshome Candles. If you’re after some threads without the dead, there will be vegan clothing from The Sierra Foxtrot Clothing, Vegan Slogans, Viva La Vegan and Will’s Vegan Store.

Veganism is tightly connected with activism, fighting for a better planet for everyone. This year, the charities involved include Miracle's Mission (which helps animals worldwide, starting with their rescue, neuter and education programme in Borneo), College of Naturopathic Medicine, Greenpeace UK, The Kindling Trust (who work with communities, farmers, practitioners, activists, and policy makers towards a just and ecologically sustainable society), The Lancashire Wildlife Trust, Vegan Info, Vegetarian for Life, Viva!, WWF and Animal Rebellion (who campaign for a transition to a plant-based food system for climate and animal justice).

There will also be a chance to find out about VFest UK, a massive new vegan camping event for 2021. This plantastic festival promises 'outdoor activities, live shows, headline acts, celebrity chefs, global speakers, amazing stalls, international food caterers and more.'

Entry to the market on Saturday is £5 on the door (or free for under 16s). There are also £15 VIP tickets that can be bought in advance from Eventbrite. These include fast track entry and a goody bag full of vegan products, samples, discounts and offers. 100% of ticket money goes to animal welfare charities as the festival is fully volunteer run.
