The 22nd annual ceremony will take place at First Direct Arena for the second time

The 2017 instalment of the prestigious MOBO Awards, which celebrates the best in "urban" music is heading to Leeds First Direct Arena later this year.

The ceremony on Wednesday 29 November will mark the second time the MOBOs have taken place in Leeds, following the 2015 awards show which saw performances from FKA Twigs, Section Boys, Lethal Bizzle, and for some reason CeeLo Green.

The big winner on the night in 2015 was Stormzy, who is likely to feature in several categories this year following the commercial and critical success of debut album Gang Signs and Prayer.

“We are truly excited to return to Leeds – we had an amazing experience here two years ago thanks to all our partners and a very enthusiastic and welcoming audience. I still have people coming up to me saying what an electrifying show it was." says MOBO founder and CEO Kanya King.

"Looking at the list of musical talent this year, it promises to be another exciting celebration of the best in urban music”.

Councillor Judith Blake, Leader of Leeds City Council said: "It is hugely important that as we bid for European Capital Culture we find every opportunity to showcase the cultural diversity of the city on an international stage, and MOBO Awards with its support for emerging artists and world wide reputation for championing music of black origin is a fantastic platform for this."

MOBO Awards arena tickets will go on sale on Friday 29 September at 9:00am from www.mobo.com and www.firstdirectarena.com  Prices are £22, £35 and £45 excluding handling charges.
